Review: Not a Hero
Not a Hero by Sarah Robinson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
****4.5 Emotional Stars****
This is my first read for Sarah Robinson and I’m really happy that Not A Hero was my first. This book is an emotional beautiful story that touches your heart; it has heartache, learning how to forgive and overcoming fears. Miles has been a Marine for 8yrs and returning home a war hero if he wants to admitted or not; returning home is bitter sweet his father is ill and it’s time to take care of him. Miles when he sees his father is not the same man who he once was and his illness is serious. Zoe is Miles father live-in nurse who has been taking care of him and has become attached to him like a father figure while Miles was overseas. Miles is first encounter with Zoe he sees the light in her and Zoe sees that he not the person he once was. Miles coming home has made him see that civilian life is not going to be that easy for him with constant black out and nightmares (PTSD he won’t admit yet);as his relationship with Zoe begins to grows his night mares and black out become less frequent she becomes his light. Zoe thinks sharing some of her dark past will help Miles and see that he still a good person and getting help is ok. Miles uses Zoe as coping mechanisms and believes that’s all he needs until he blackouts out and does the one thing he always promised to Zoe never to hurt her the way she has been hurt in the past. Miles pushes Zoe away so he can never hurt again but ends up hurting in the worst way ever. Will Zoe give up or will Miles give in and get his happy ending?
