****4.5****
Ghost is my first read by Nicole James and not my last. Jessie was 8 when her mother remarried and moved her and her brother (Tommy) to their new home; along with a new stepfather she got a new stepbrother Billy (Ghost) who is 5 years older than her and year older than her brother Tommy. Jess was the little brat kid step sister that used to follow Ghost and her brother around and drive them nuts. Ghost has always been Jessie protector and he made that same promise to Tommy. Jessie turns 16 and opens Ghost’s eyes with a single kiss and everything changes between them. With the loss of a loved one change’s Jessie and she picks up’s and leaves; Ghost thought that distance was answer after that kiss. Fast forward seven years later Jessie makes a phone to Ghost that makes him feel like something not right. Three month’s Jessie hitchhikes to Sturgis to find Ghost; when Jessie jumps on hitches a ride from some bikers going to where she needs to go she take the ride. But little does she know that the bikers have other plans for her; Jessie learns these plans when they get to Sturgis and when she hides from them she hears things that only club members should hear she waits for her chance to run. Ghost having a beer at the bar notices a girl comes in and she looks scared and trying to hide; when he see why another MC he takes a chance to help her. Ghost comes face to face with the girl and it’s no other than Jess being the protector that he always has been to her he does just that. When Ghost finds himself unable to keep his distance from her, she needs his protection, and she’s the one woman he can’t refuse. Ghost is a distinctive man, he lives by rules and he swears he will die by those rules; his number one rule is he refuses to fall in love. Ghost finds himself in a place that he doesn’t know if he can put his feeling aside, will he be able to push his feelings aside and use her as a pawn for the attainment of his club’s goals or will he put the club and their lives at risk to follow his heart? When theirs lies and secrets come out and it comes between them can they overcome them to find their happiness?
